My name is Lebée Meehan, and I’m a Nutritious MovementTM Certified Restorative Exercise Specialist and a registered yoga teacher. I’ve had a varied career: astronomer, gallery director at a science museum, astronaut instructor, stay-at-home mom, and, now, movement teacher. The common thread throughout my journey has been education. I love to learn, and I love to share what I learn through teaching!
I believe that each person is the authority on their own self and their own body. My mission as a teacher is to be an assistant on the learning path. I offer compassionate instruction in gentle, yet still effortful, movement modalities. In addition, I’m an inquisitive body nerd who is fascinated with details and who prefers her movement practice to be intriguing, fun, and embodied.

Why Restorative Exercise and Yoga?
I’ve always enjoyed various forms of movement and exercise. When I first began work as an astronaut instructor in 2001, I thought yoga might be a nice counterpoint to the, at times, stressful work. I fell in love with yoga and practiced regularly. However, I ended up with a knee injury that kept me in a several year on-again/off-again relationship with asana (the physical yoga poses).
After the birth of my child, my pelvic floor had some trouble recovering. This experience led me to find Katy Bowman, founder of Nutritious MovementTM, and her Restorative Exercise offerings. (Restorative Exercise is a set of biomechanics-based corrective exercises designed to help restore the body to better health and prepare it for functional movement.)
After beginning these exercises, changing my everyday body alignment, and altering my walking gait, I realized that my knee problem had disappeared! I tentatively began my journey back to asana practice, learning through trial and error what alignment changes I needed to make yoga attainable and non-injurious for me again. With this newfound knowledge, I decided to train to become a yoga teacher. Around the same time, I also began to study Restorative Exercise in earnest and am now proud to be a Restorative Exercise Specialist.
